British based Hawk-Eye can look back on 14 years of experience, is represented in more than 20 sports and has equipped more than 400 arenas. During the summer of 2012, the system was licensed by FIFA and introduced in several tests.  

After installation at the Olympiastadion Berlin, a FIFA test was also conducted. This test is necessary for licensing and was accompanied by the German Football League (DFL) and the Olympiastadion Berlin GmbH. 14 high-speed cameras installed inside the roof of the stadium (each goal has seven cameras directed to it at different angles) will prove any future goal beyond doubt.

Goal or no goal – the referee will be notified in under one second. An acoustic signal via his headset as well as a special goal line technology watch that will vibrate and flash will be the primary signals to the referee. Additionally, Hawk-Eye will deliver slow motion replays and animations that will allow the spectators inside the stadium and at home on the television screens to undoubtedly confirm that indeed a regular goal was scored.  

Starting with the Cup Final on May 30, 2015, the goal line technology will handle the contestable decisions, such as the goal not awarded during the 2014 final between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
