DFB Cup on display at the Olympiastadion Berlin
The German Football Association (DFB) is donating a replica of the DFB Cup and thereby recognizes the long-term partnership between the DFB and the Olympiastadion Berlin. Along the way, the DFB creates a lasting space for the cup’s trophy hunters.
The Olympiastadion Berlin is the site of the DFB Cup Final since 1985 and the 30th final in Berlin is set to take place on May 17, 2014. Over the past years, the event has developed into one of the most important football matches internationally as well, being broadcast in 185 countries.
Shortly after the official Cup Handover at city hall, the replica of the DFB Cup was given to Olympiastadion Berlin CEO Joachim E. Thomas by DFB general secretary Helmut Sandrock. The Cup replica will be on display at the Olympiastadion Berlin visitor center, where the up to 300.000 visitors that flock to the stadium each year will now have the chance to marvel the Cup.
