Mourning of Hans-Jürgen Bartsch

The Deutsche Olympische Gesellschaft Landesverband Berlin e.V. (DOG Berlin) is mourning of its long-term president and honorary chairman Hans-Jürgen Bartsch who died on the 11th of November 2013 after a serious illness at the age of 72.

Joachim E. Thomas, CEO of the Olympiastadion Berlin GmbH and member of the executive committee of the DOG Berlin: „This loss is a very sad moment for us. Hans-Jürgen Bartsch was not only unstintingly and deeply committed to the Olympic idea, but has also been strongly linked to the Olympiastadion Berlin. “

Gerhard Janetzky, president of the DOG Berlin, further continues recognising the commitment and credits of Bartsch: „Within the last 10 years, Hans-Jürgen Bartsch had shaped the DOG Berlin in a very unique way and equipped it well with passionate and intense input for the future.  He has been a cast of fortune for the DOG Berlin. We will always keep him in memory as a positive, most friendly and tackling person who stood up for others. With this death, we lost an outstanding personality. All of the Berlin sport society will be missing Hans-Jürgen Bartsch, who had been awarded with the Order of Merit of the federal republic of Germany in 2008. All of us wish his family members and friends much strength and confidence.”
