Super Saturday with two events
The day before the world famous Berlin Marathon is traditionally reserved for a fun running event, taking runners from the Charlottenburg castle to the Olympiastadion Berlin. The six kilometer track finishes on the blue track inside the stadium. Starting at 9:30 a.m., about 10,000 runners are expected to participate in the so-called “breakfast run”.
The runners are expected to finish at the Olympiastadion Berlin at about 10 a.m.. Afterwards, all runners will receive free breakfast on the outer areas surrounding the stadium: Fruit, cookies, waffles, tea and water will be handed out – mostly healthy and easily digestable foods, just how the runners want it.
There is not much time to eat though, because while breakfast is served, preparations for the Bundesliga match between Hertha BSC and FSV Mainz 05 will be ongoing in full force. The runners will see the video boards and goals set up, but all of the cables and cameras for the TV broadcast and many other pieces of equipment and branding need to be set up so gates can open on time at 1:30 p.m. to welcome football fans.
Due to road closures for the breakfast run, the use of public transportation to travel to and from the stadium is recommended. The stadium remains closed for viewings and guided tours on match days.
