World Cup 2011: Tickets for all matches available

On January 20, 2011 at 9:00 a.m., the organising committee will start the fourth phase of ticketing for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011. During the fourth phase, tickets to all matches will once again be available. Of course, tickets to the opening match at the Olympiastadion Berlin on June 26, 2011 when Germany will take on Canada will be available as well. All other matches are also still available, including those with German participation and the final in Frankfurt. The tickets will be distributed in a lottery drawing on and after February 24, 2011.

In order to heighten chances to see a match live at the stadium, those who order tickets can order tickets for an alternative match they would like to see. This opens up the possibility of ordering tickets for example for the final in Frankfurt and the match between Brazil and Equatorial Guinea which also takes place in Frankfurt as an alternative.

Should tickets not be available for the final match in Frankfurt, the ticket orderer would receive tickets for the match between the South American Champions and the African Newcomer.

„Our goal is to give fans a bigger chance to get tickets for all of this World Cup’s matches including the matches with German participation and the final. There is no system that guarantees for transparency and fairness than a ticket lottery “, said organising committee president Steffi Jones.

„The fourth phase of ticketing is the last one that we are able to offer tickets to all matches. There won’t be another World Cup in Germany in the near future“, she added.

440.000 tickets have already been sold since ticketing began on October 29, 2009. Next to the matches with German participation including the opening match at the Olympiastadion Berlin on June 26 for which more than 50.000 tickets have already been sold, the matches USA vs Colombia at Sinsheim (16.000 tickets sold) and the quarter final in Augsburg (14.000) have been very popular among those that tickets have been ordered for.

Tickets can be purchased through the official web page at FIFA.com/deutschland2011 or via the hotline 01805 / 06 2011 (0,14 €cent / min. from German land lines. Mobile prices may vary).

Ticket costs range from 15 € (reduced tickets for children and students up to 16 years of age, group stage tickets not including the opening match; and the third place game) and 200 € (regular price for the final at the World Cup arena in Frankfurt).

Remaining tickets as well as returns will be offered between April 1 and July 17 during the „Last-Minute-Sales“ on the basis of „first come, first served“.

The opening match between Germany and Canada at the Olympiastadion Berlin on June 26, 2011 will set a new record in attendance for a women’s football match in Europe. The current record was set on April 22, 2009, when 44.825 fans came to see the women’s national team match between Germany and Brazil in Frankfurt. The opening match attendance of the first FIFA Women’s World Cup on German soil will also surpass the attendance of the last two opening matches at FIFA Women’s World Cups (28.098 in China in 2007 and 24.346 in the USA 2003). The opening match between the USA and Denmark during the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup at the Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey will not be reached, as it was set with an attendance of 78.972.
