DFB team beats Canada 2:1to open World Cup play
In front of the European record crowd of 73.680 spectators, the German Women’s national team successfully started in World Cup play. Thanks to great one-on-one play and exact passing game, the German team was able to secure a 2:1 victory over Team Canada. Team Germany pressed for the first goal of the match, and after just 10 minutes, the goal would come. Babett Peter crossed the ball from the left flank perfectly and Kerstin Garefrekes had no trouble converting on a header to beat Canadian goalkeeper Erin Mcleod for the 1:0 lead for Team Germany!

The German Football League (DFL – Deutsche Fußball Liga) has published the match schedule for the upcoming Bundesliga season today. Hertha BSC will welcome the 1. 55.000 fans celebrated a terrific concert evening with Herbert Grönemeyer at the Olympiastadion Berlin. His „Schiffsverkehr“ Tour stop was accompanied by beautiful weather and Grönemeyer started the evening off rocking with his new single that also bears the name „Schiffsverkehr“. Many classic Grönemeyer hits followed and the spectators were able to sing along and party to „Was soll das“, „Männer“ and „Alkohol“. The new album was also very much integrated into the show and Grönemeyer played a good number of new songs.

Hertha restored their two point lead at the top of the division two table on Sunday afternoon by beating SC Paderborn 2-0 in a round 28 game, played in front of a massive crowd of 70.621 at the Olympiastadion Berlin. On January 20, 2011 at 9:00 a.m., the organising committee will start the fourth phase of ticketing for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011. During the fourth phase, tickets to all matches will once again be available. Of course, tickets to the opening match at the Olympiastadion Berlin on June 26, 2011 when Germany will take on Canada will be available as well. All other matches are also still available, including those with German participation and the final in Frankfurt. The tickets will be distributed in a lottery drawing on and after February 24, 2011.
